If you go on over to Richard Edelman’s blog, I think a lot of the comments say things like, “No hard feelings. We all make mistakes.”
What I’m not wondering is whether or not PRWeek will cover it. Will WOMMA talk about it? Or is the industry unwilling to let this hurt Edelman? If so, Edelman is in an enviable place. Their social media practice ought to suffer, but it’s not likely to have any problems. No one will get fired. No one will be help accountable. Some poster pointed out that Edelman violated WOMMA rules and in any other industry, if a member violates organization rules, they are out. It probably won’t happen here.
Interesting!
Surely Hugh doesn’t think that a PR firm was able to launch a major project like that — budget to buy/rent an RV, fly two people to Vegas, pay for their travels, etc. — without the approval of a senior manager?
