Nintendo Wii Vs. PS3

Update: As of 11/28/06, the BBC reports that Wii has sold more than 600,000 units in the US and Canada, compared to 400,000 for PS3. Nintendo plans to ship a total of 4 million units to North America by the end of the year, while Sony has set a target of 1 million PS3s.

Even though I am a far cry from a video game expert (or even an avid video game player), I’ve been noticing a lot of articles lately about the upcoming release of Nintendo Wii and Sony Playstation 3. Expected to come out this fall, both systems are receiving a lot of hype, but couldn’t be more different. Playstation 3 is designed to be a more typical “next generation console”, complete with better graphics, blue tooth controllers, cd/dvd player, and, as shown on the chart on the right, a whole slew of other options. All of these extras don’t come without a price, though. According to CNN, Playstation will sell 2 versions of this new console for $499 and $599. In contrast, Nintendo’s Wii will sell for half that, in the $199-$249 range. Nintendo President Satoru Iwata is determined to keep the prices of the console and its new games lower than competitors. This, and the remote-control style controller serve as the Wii’s two major selling points. The controller is pretty revolutionary, and seems like it will be great for playing sports-based video games.

Nintendo Wii will bring back some old-school favorites, like Zelda and Mario Brothers, while Playstation 3 promises backward compatibility. Now, I will admit, I have not actually bought a video game console since Super Nintendo came out about 100 years ago. So I’m a bit old-fashioned when it comes to this stuff. But, I will say this. I can beat just about anybody in a MarkioKart racing match (Super Nintendo OR Game Cube, thank you). When my old game broke, I went on EBay immediately and bought another one. And I have been known to hit a few holes-in-one on Tiger Woods Golf. If only Nintendo Wii would bring back MarioKart (aka the best video game ever), I would definitely buy it. That remote controller looks cool.

If you are looking forward to the Wii, you may want to check out the Nintendo DS. The new MarioKart DS is one of the best I’ve ever played, plus you can play online via Nintendo Wifi. Not only that, but the DS lite just came out and it’s as sleek as an iPod. I do have to admit though, one of my all-time favorites is MarioKart for the SNES, it just doesn’t get better than that.

in gamepro they had an article about a racing game where you hold the controller horizontally and use it like a steering wheel. the will definitely be a Wii Mario Kart and maybe they’ll use a system similar to that one.

I could go on forever about this subject, but I’ll try to keep it short. I for one adored my Gamecube. It was a very capable little console and had some fantastic games on it, such as Resident Evil REmake and of course the incredible Resident Evil 4, as well as Metroid Prime. These games are far superior to anything on the PS2 IMO. Even though everything at this point is merely assumption, I think it’s pretty safe to say the once mighty Playstation brand is about to take a huge tumble this time around. From first place to dead last is looking pretty likely. Mostly so because of the ridiculous price point on the PS3. $600 before tax? Dear lord… And then of course you’ll have to throw down another $70 just to come home with one game. I think Sony’s ego has grown out of control and they’re severely overestimating the “loyalty” of their fanbase. It seems Sony is literally expecting people to pay this kind of dough based simply on brand name and “promises” of what’s to come. Sony should know now that brand name alone isn’t gonna cut it, considering the PSP(or ***PLAYSTATION* portable, if you will) hasn’t been able to accomplish much on brand name. I honestly expect them to discountine the PSP line completely within the next 2 years as they fall further and further behind the DS. The DS already has Japan in a vice grip and is well on it’s way to taking North America from the PSP. The DS took a huge lead in sales in the US after the DS Lite and the new Mario game were launched.

Basically Sony is giving us more of the same with prettier graphics and expecting us to shell out a good 700+ smackers for it. Also, the NTSC standard has been pretty much tapped out, so to see really any improvement in graphics on the PS3 you’ll need to shell a cool grand for an HDTV. Nintendo on other hand is giving us something affordable and innovative. They’re genuinely trying to change what has become a very stale gaming scene. The controller looks awesome and should be a ton of fun to play. I think people are going to flock to the Wii. The average gamer just wants something affordable and actually FUN to play. When you compare the Wii/Xbox 360 and PS3 on a standard analog set, the difference in graphical prowess will barely be noticable. Nintedo knows this and that’s part of the reason they’re going for innovation and fun instead of hardware specs and pretty graphics.

I think Nintendo will truly become the “comeback kid” in the generation and do what was not too long ago thought impossible; KICK SONY’S ASS!

I have been looking into the Wii aparently and this what i have read from the nintendo website that there is a wireless internet feature that will let you download all games that nintendo have created goign back to the NES also including sega genis and other platforms, i have no idea how this downloading will work, but it is very exciting idea. I just though with your love for all things mario kart this might intrest you ( all mario kart in one place!) you could really prove who was the mario kart champion

Yeah, the Wii has a feature called Virtual Console. Apparently you’ll be able to download old school classics for a buck or two a pop(sort of like itunes). Right now the platforms available are NES, SNES, N64, Sega Genesis and Turbo Grafix 16. Though more platforms are possible in the future as well. You’re also gonna be able to actually play multiplayer games over the net on the Wii as well. Nintendo is embracing the internet this time around.

the wii vs the ps3 there is no comparison at all. I am a true gamer . The Wii is state of the art . Mainly all the cool stuff is done with the controller,but the system is also a piece of work the system is going to already have Wifi compadibility and u can possibly acess the internet with it .the Wii will also it will tell u when special events are going 2 happen ,but wut its probably best known 4 is its ability 2 download old games (code name or its original name :The Nintendo Revelution).also best of all its the cheapest out of all the new systems.Nintendo is planning on sellin it for 250 dollars or less.the controller :1:4 starters it has a pointer on the top so u can aim (4 example an arrow).2:If ur doing a raceing game u can turn the conroler on its side and turn it so u can drive with it.3:Its sences movement (this gives nintendo tons of diffrent cool stuff they can do esppecialy in sports)4:It has a speaker in the controler (the arrow 4 example when u shoot it youll here it).5:The controlers are wireless and have a rumble pack .with compitition like this the ps3 has’nt got a chance.

Okay, I’ve been a fan of Nintendo ever since back in the day where Killer Instinct and Bubsy reigned as King, but I am usually not biased. I’ve recently read in an article somewhere that the PS3 will lose Sony nearly 2 billion dollars.

Dont get me wrong, I love other consoles as well. You cant seperate me from Fable or GTA… but 2 billion dollars is a BIG number. Sony have been stumbling not only in the game department. The ipod killed their walkmans and Toshiba destroyed their TV’s. All the have left is the gaming market and now with this recent development, they arent having very much fun. This console is their last attempt to grab peoples attention and the way theyve gone about it is all wrong. They believe the more power they pack into it, the more fans will be pleased…Wrong.Sure, the PS3 looks stunning, but graphics arent everything (remember back to Wind Waker anybody?). Sony are basically in a war with Microsoft to reclaim the gaming market as their own without thinking what gamings all about.Its cool that "hardcore" gamers want EXTREME graphics and AWESOME power, but thats not what gaming is about.Gaming is about fun!This is what Nintendo has in mind whenever they make a console. They dont care if theyre down in the war in the living-room, theyre just glad they can make millions of people happy. Thus, you have the Wii. Possibly Nintendo’s greatest leap yet. So enough with the war on each others consoles, just make games fun without the bickering and sniping at each other. And for God’s sake, no more wars in the living room – not unless they’re the kind we can play with our friends.

Ok…ok…
Sony fan base please think about this for a minute… sure the ps3 will have awesome graphics, by no doubt the best of the 3 "next gen" consoles, but how far is that going to get you? Drop your Sony Pride and open your mind to the posibilities the wii gives us.
Think about how cool it would be to swing a controller to swing your sword in a video game, or how easy first person shooters will be when you can simply POINT where you want to shoot!
And don’t forget, Nintendo is the one that started this all (minus atari), they were the one everyone loved for a long time. I think microsoft needs to go back to computers and sony back to………..whatever you do…
NINTENDO FOR LIFE!!! wii will WIN THIS FIGHT if people would get past there FAN BASE PRIDE and think about how COOL this thing will be, SO PUT ASIDE YUR EGO SONY FANS AND BUY A wii on NOVEMBER 19th

i can’t wait for the wii to come out, it sounds like such an amazing idea and if you go on the sales of the ds it shouldn’t do to badly. i have been reading around a few articles and it seems nintendo have actually set there targets really low, but i remember when the psp came out with its better graphics and cutting edge games which ended up being ps2 games that didn’t really port well while the ds was more innovative. i personally think the ds is an amazing machine and the wii looks like an even better machine.
I have to admit to being a nintendo fan, currently have the xbox 360 and the gamecube as my next gens but i have ot admit to pulling out my super nintendo on numerous occassions and to this day it remains my favourite console. mario kart is a good game i’m not gonna argue about that but i’m not even going to try and imagine how much of my life has been spent on super mario allstars, not thats a game and to this day remains my favourite game.
come on NINTENDO , handheld war has been won, next the wii for world domination

Nintendo Wii is going to redefine video gaming just like the NES did in 1991 and the N64 with true analogue control in 1996. Nintendo has once again set the bar for home consoles and the competition (Microsoft and Sony) are going to have to rise to this true the PS2 was the biggest success of the last generation but with the 360 already sold through to nearly 6million units and the wii to have a launch figure of around 5 million Sony is in alot of trouble. Earlier in the week they down graded intitail stock form 2.25million in Japan to only 500K so that America got a slightly larger portion around 1.75 m,illion now, but with the PS3 not out in Europe until March 07 there is only 1 console i am getting this generation and thats the Wii.

The PS3 will be a success for those who have that kind of money and also for those who want true high-def and all but if u remember (if you are old enough) back in the 90’s when sony tried to release their own video format, it lost out to VHS and completly destroyed sony from that industry, if the same happens with blue-ray and it losses out to HD-DVD then the PS3 might well be the last Sony console we see. PLus the launch game line up is pretty weedy compared to the wii, add that to the price and what you actullay get with the machine well… it all adds up to a bit of a mess.

DS currently dominates the handheld market with 67.3% of all the market GBA with 21% sont with12% and other with the final 5.9% the PSP had a poor games libary, nicer graphics and a useless bad DVD format bundled in. so imagine the PS3 like a PSP and the wii like a DS, and if that is anything to go by Nintendo has already won : )

XBox 360 right now has a huge lead, but it will be interesting to see how quickly Wii and/or PS3 take over the top spot when the good titles come out soon.

If you read though this whole conversation on this forum its downright hilarious. Up until this point ive seen 1 freaking person who wants the ps3! WII IS GONNA RULE! Im starting to get concered about getting my hands on one, especially after seeing 1 person wanted a ps3 on this whole forum. Its gonna be the best though. I have to admit the biggest downfall is the controller pricing though. Its very expensive for controllers and 4 me the most fun about playing games is getting together with friends and playing. Another downfall I think may be the nintendo wifi. Dont get me wrong the DS one is fun and all, but the friend codes get frusterating and you can only chat with friends, i hope that they improve this on the wii. Any way im pumped, cya outside Wal-mart, november 19th!

I have always bought Atari then Sony consoles and have always been pleased, but something happened with the PS2, the nature of gaming became stale, hypnotic in a bad, aggressive way. You had to stare and grind your teeth at the screen to get anywhere in games.

The Wii looks like fun, makes me feel young, I like it and so I will not be buying the PS3 and will buy a Wii, my ONLY concern is the lack of HD compatibility as I have a HDTV.

Regarding new DVD formats, how many people actually buy lots of DVDs to watch these days? I use a Hard Drive recorder to record my TV, its the way to go, much easier than swapping disks!

YEAH! i GO TO iTT-TECH COLLEAGE IN cALIFORNIA. We had a deliberation of the Wii and PS3. In composition 2. We made our claims on the Wii and PS3. Ofcourse the PS3 is going to have the best technology for a game console. Since Sony is a really big company or corporation. Well I have the Xbox so I can careless. However the If the Wii brings Star Fox back I will probably buy it. If the Star Fox game is similar to the Nintendo64 version. I relly did not like the game cube system or the Star Fox version for Game Cube.

Who cares about downloading OLD games. I mean its old games. how is old games good? I dont want to waste my time playing a old game. I rather play a game from my time cause its better. I think the downloadble old games are pretty useless and STUPID! But I’m probably going to spend my hard erned money for that crap.

I’ve been researching info on the both of them and have figured that the Nintendo Wii is slightly better than the PS3, because it is less expensive and the idea of not having to use a joystick and being able to move around to play is pretty cool.

But, the PS3 has bluetooth tech. and can play Blue Ray discs. And the graphics will definately be better than the wii. But is costs twice as much as the wii, which is a big turnoff.

All things considered, i think i’ll buy a wii

Sony entertaiment has become the most popular in the years. What i found deceiving is that, wii will become better than ps3. Ps3 hardly has new things in it, only few useless stuff. Man can you believe ps3 is gonna remove vibrate to the console, i found that sad, that use to be my favorite part. In the other hand, wii isn’t that popular but atleast hes making a big effort, from what i know nintendo has been working on a game call zelda, twitlight princess, for about 3 years. Nintendo has a verry small team, cause there verry poor but atleast there work comes out succesfull. And did you check the price o ps3, it will be like 600$ or something and wii, will will be 200$. Overall, il stick to wii, even thought i use to be a fan of sony.

ok…bottomline…i was a nintendo fan but later switched to sony after the ps2 came out…while i’ve been saving for the ps3 i have been having several doubts….while the ps3 will have remarkable graphics…the pricetag along with it is a complete turnoff…you cant even rent ps3 games now…then my attention focused to a new console named the wii by nintendo…i was skeptical because i hadnt seen much publicity…but one i turned my view to this amazing machine i couldnt take my eyes off…the controller almost seems to bond the player with the main character which is almost anyones dream…especially for games such as Zelda…the price for the wii is convenient and all in all seems like a console which can really entertain the public…remember…graphics arent everything…and im pretty sure the graphics will be better than the gamecube…and even the gamecube graphics werent all THAT bad…the only inconvenience is that wii will not be able to play dvds or audio cds…but apart from that this console will ultimately own the rest…so there you go folks…

After all this hoopla over the PS3 and Wii, I think both systems are going to be great. The PS3 offers a lot of additional functionality that the Wii does not. But, the Wii is introducing an unprecedented game design that has the potential to change the way people play video games (or it could be a complete flop). Either way, I expect both systems to be successful. People who are die-hard gamers that rely on their game systems to do more than just play games (play DVDs, view pictures, store all kinds of data) will probably spend the extra money to get a PS3, since the system sort of resembles a miniature computer. People who simply want a game system for the sake of playing games will probably be more apt to buy the Wii (although it does have several USB ports for external devices). When it all boils down, the difference will be what gamers want a system for: to play really fun games or a device that will combine the functions of many other pieces of equipment. It will be interesting to see what happens.

I just have to say… Wow. I like nintendo (except the game cube) but am a hardcore socom online fan. When i woke up this morning i thought i was going to buy the ps3. But now i change my mind. I just ripped up the flyer for the ps3 and changed my background of my psp to a wii. How do you feel guys? You just converted an avid ps fan! Go wii! Go zelda!

the wii looks more amazing with its controller design. looks like sony didnt do too much with the ps3 controller. I have been a fan of nintendo since it come out way back in the 80’s and have owned all their consoles (never owned the portables).the xbox and the ps2 i have never really cared much for, i owned both of them and sold them, still got the gamecube though. i think the wii will rock, and i am dying to get one.

PS3: its just all about graphics. don’t you know that the most overrated stuff about gaming is just the graphics? its basically eye candy. you just notice how good the graphics were in the first 10 minutes of playing a game. we just tend to forget the realism of the water, the trees or the big sweating face of shaq… maybe a couple of days we just tend to forget how cool the graphics were. look now, where’s the FUN? you can’t find it here in PS3.

Nintendo Wii: its all about FUN! nothing is more FUN than swinging your baseball bat using swinging your Wii remote instead of pressing the “O” or “X” button. nothing is more FUN than hacking and slashing your sword with your Wii remote! its all about F-U-N. GAMING is all about FUN… PS3? Xbox 360? or Wii.. It’s your Choice… but i choose to have FUN… i choose Wii..

you guys are right the wii does sound fun. And the ps3 is over rated. But the ps3 is also good because it links with ps1 ps2 and psp. This means that you can play ps1 ps2 and psp games on it

i wouldint get any one of them.The wii is a ripoff and the ps3 prices are too.Most of you are saying the wii owns the ps3.I felt that way when i had a ds and the psp came out.i thought the psp was overratted.I simply said that because i didnt want to admit the psp was better because most people said it was and i could notice that(i have both handhelds now). Thats what alot of people do in these forums.Im not on any ones side between the ps3 or the wii but most people here say the wii is better cause they dont wana admit it and make up excuses like its overrated,the price is high ,who cares about graphics and stuff.A GOOD THING ABOUT THE WII is that its diffrent because of the motion sensor controlors.Its cheap.And the graphics are good and desent for a good console.A GOOD THING ABOUT THE PS3 is the CELL(aka cell proccesor).BOTH CONSOLS HAVE A CELL.THE PS3 HAS 8 THE WII HAS 2.The more cells you have the better it shows every detail and aspect.It controls NAVIGATION,ARTIFICIAL INTELLEGENCE,COORDINATION,GRAPHICE DEGREE AND ALLOT OF OTHER STUFF.THink of it like a plane.The more is accelerates the more it will reach its alltitude.Same way for both consols.Thats why the ps3 has a rippoff price becase the cell is so darn expensive.(made by IBM).The ps3 is better cause it has more cells and it can do more…stuff i guess.The ps3 also has motion sensor like the wii controls but its not as good.The ps3 can be hooked up to an HDTV up to 1080p.Then you can have the WORLDS best graphics on a came system.Mainly that would put you in a money hole cause 1080p tvs are over $3000!ID SAY THE WINNER IS…..BOTH!=)

a good way to prove a good game console is proof.Not like saying the ps3 or wii is cool or the wii controler is better than the ps3.Matter of fact the ps3s controller has motion sensor too.Exept not that good.I may sound like a geek but i just know that stuff on the top of my head cause i research not say like saying the ps3 is gana suck or the wii is gana suck.Just prove it and see if the console you favor is really good

All of u are right!! I agree with you in the fact that Wii is not too expensive as the ps3, ps3 has better graphics, the controller of the Wii is fantastic, ps3 includes blue ray… blah blah blahhhh… The point is that both are so f…… good, that no one can compare them, neither decide if Wii is better than the ps3, nor decide that ps3 is the best. It’s true that the games that nintendo make, they are unique, and maybe most of the people like nintendo stuff better than ps3 games. I mean, Zelda rocks, Mario Kart rocks, Super smash bros. is the best game I’d ever play!!!
By the other side, games like NFS make the difference in a ps3 in the fact that the graphics become more realistic.

In other words: it depends on your preferences in order to decide which one are you going to choose. But no one can say who is better than the other.

I don’t think I’ve seen a more concentrated focus of Nintendo fanboys/girls since I went to Ushicon in Austin, TX. Let me start off by saying THE CONTROLLER HAS BEEN DONE BEFORE. It’s called CD-i, kiddies, and Nintendo even sponsored it by putting 3 different Zelda titles on it. The system flopped, and Nintendo locked it up in the vault for a future date. Now they claim that their DS is “innovative” and the Wii is “unique”, well I’m sick of it. The DS has been done before as well in the form of Palmpilot games, but Nintendo cares not for this. No, they want all the credit for themselves, so they claim innovation.

PS3 is not to escape judgment, either. Though their controller’s way of function is quite different from the Wii’s, it’s obvious they stole it at the last second.
Though Blu-Ray has quite a bit of Hollywood support, it’s still making a bold move by attacking Microsoft’s HD-DVD. If it were not for the overpriced Blu-Ray player installed in the PS#, the price would be smaller. Also, about the no rumble? I personally don’t care and I loathe the rumble, but what more could you do to piss off fans?

I game for the games, not for the graphics, not for the “unique” controllers. I honestly couldn’t give two shits about Wii’s remote controller, because I have yet to see a game developer use it to its full potential (Red Steel is laggy). I’ll stick with where MY games are at, whichn is unfortunately on the overpriced PS3. What games? DMC4, FFXIII, FFXVSIII, Assassin’s Creed, Armored Core 5, Tekken 6, Virtua Fighter 5, Sonic the Hedgehog and Warhawk. I will also be obtaining a Wii, so don’t rule me a fanboy yet. I couldn’t survive without a regular fix of Brawl and some samurai sword fighting. Only system I plan on avoiding is XB360, because I loathe FPS, Sports, and Racing.

That’s my 2 cents on the matter, and if you fanboys got a problem with it, then suck my Wii.

Wii is way better than PS3 it is so oviase. People in the Play Station Copany are just makeing it alot of money just so it will sound cool. Lets say the PSP just came out. It was $250 dollars but so is Wii and they just make it alot of money to make sound cool so if PSP sounds cool just think of the Wii 3 times as better!

I played the Wii at the mall and am happy to say that I really thought this console would the downfall of Nintendo until I played it. The remote is absolutely one of a kind. It was talked about to reach the older gamers, but they have really outdone themselves and this will actually attract all gamers. My son is 8 and loved it also. Check out your local mall so that you can get a chance to play this.

Yesterday i plaed the ps3 and watched someone play the wii.There both cool.The problem was the wiis game which i know wasnt supposed to be very good.(called exite truck).Like i said if you go to cnet.com it says the game wasnt to exiting.When the clerck was playing and he totaled into a tree al that happened was the bumper fell off and the hood opened and the tailights fell off-not very exiting.Although it was pretty cool watching steer the truck with the wii remote.Then i went to best buy(probably the best electronis department in the world)and played the ps3 and played desert storm.It was amazing graphics!!This time when i crashed in to anything my whole car blew up or fell apart and looked like what you would see in a real car acident.Glass, the engine,exhaustpipes,spoilers,eveything fallinf and masinh up.And after that i played the xbox 360.So for some reason i played all 3 concols and didnt realize it until now.

I currently own an xbox 360. I actually just stopped playing it to read this article. Anyways, with its awesome titles such as Gears of War, Splinter Cell: Double Agent, Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Vegas, and the soon to be released Halo 3, I’d say its a great console. For christmas I hope to be picking up a Wii with the extra money I can get.

Try to plug your Ipod or mp3 player to your ps3. Oops sorry ps3 cant do that. What about upscaling 720p games to 1080i. Oh better yet if you have HDTV that doesnt support 720p you will be out of luck because you will be playing the game on 420p. Bottom line PS3 can’t upscale.

I was skeptical about the Wii but I am considering it now. The Xbox 360 and PS3 or both cool but not innovative. They are the same as the old systems but with slightly better graphics and smoother gameplay. When I don’t watch the cinimatics and gape at the graphics. I would choose halo over halo 2 any day. The Wii will truly change gaming, along with gamers. Just imagine a current fat lazy gamer trying to get up and fight off an enemy with a Wii remote(lol). I am still deciding do to the ds. The ds isn’t really all theat great, the games are to simple and get boringn fast. I think I may be looking at it the wrong way though I want the ds for in the car, in a line, just waiting for something, for a quick game it really is good. I think the wii will be great also so I guess now I have done the final blow in convincing myself the Wii is the system that is right for me (still gonna need to play halo 3 though).

We bought a Wii when it first came out this last week and I love it! I like the fact that Nintendo actually wanted to include the rest of the family with its console. Being a women, I find most games systems and games are geared toward men. I think that they forgot who made tetrus such a big hit, women. Not everyone wants to shoot zombies and aliens ( although, I do like Halo). I like to play the bowling and golf games and my husband loves the zelda game. It is nice that I can have my mother play the bowling with me as well. It is geared towards everyone which is why I think Nintendo hit the spot with the Wii. Not only is it affordable, has good graphics and is FUN to play for any age group. We also have a Xbox, but I find the controls for Halo complex (which is why I suck and my husband does not like me playing as his partner).I cant even steer right while my husband is trying to shoot aliens on the back of the vehicle. Thw Wii is easy and makes you actually go through the movements of bowling, baseball swings, golf swings and boxing. You are not just sitting there hitting buttons for hours. I think this is a great buy!!!! I hope we will get to play track and field from the original nintendo game console!!!!!

Wii despite not being online yet is internet ready. It is wireless, so no ethernet cables people. It has usb, it has all the stuff people just like the others. Only thing it lacks HDTV which nintendo claims that and graphical power won’t be very noticeable. DVD? no but the japanese market will have a dvd version. But yea, 250 without dvd player, well hell yea I wanna pay 250, not 300, not 350, not 400, not whatever. nintendo did the right thing for me. And besides, I already have a freaking dvd player. Why do I need another one??? someone logically tell me why I need two dvd players hooked to the same tv? what Im gonna take my wii to a different tv that doesn’t have a dvd player? I can bring my dvd player too!!!

PS: excite truck my suck but playing it in EB and Gamestop, it was a freakin hell of a lot better than playing nba on ps3. I actually got to steer the wiimote just like a steering wheel, and huh I thought the sensor is the front of the wii mote? It is, wii doesn’t rely on some pointer on the screen. And hey sony, where’s my beloved rumble? u took it out so u can be wireless? good going, u make rumble fans unhappy. and your wired controllers in the stores aren’t rumbling. you really f*ed up.

Heres one reason why the ps3 is really expensive so far:blue ray.If you search up blue ray on the internet it costs about $1000 and i saw one at best buy 4 $1000.I dont think they should put blueray on it just a DVD player.Now about the controllers,ps3 does have an interactive controller like the wii but not used much or as interactive.The ps3 does use sixaxis a brand high-tech product but i doubt anyone would care.I played ps3 and watched someone play a wii(cleark)but id have to say the ps3 graphics are way better but the cool thing about the the wii game was the guy was stering the truck which was cool.

Lets take some time to look at the originality of Sony’s controllers and Nitnendo’s controllers. The whole line of Playstation controllers have just been using the same build they have been using, but just add a button or two. Now, for Nintendo. Their controllers have all been different from the start. Well, sure the PS3’s graphics are better than the Wii, but how about the Wii’s motion sensing?

Wii has usb. you are correct there is no ethernet despite wii being wireless, however there is a usb adapter for an ethernet cable. Just making sure the correct facts are out.

First of all, let me say I’ve been out of the ‘console’ business since Super Nintendo…predating the existence of both playstation and xbox, but I have not been out of gaming. I’m a PC gamer.

If you’re looking for the ultimate gaming experience, any real “hardcore” gamer would agree, you can only find it on the PC. The processing power you can get in a PC, as well as the flexibility it offers will always outperform any console. With SLI and now dual and quad core processors on the way, PCs will continue to leave any console in the dust.

I understand though that PC gaming prices alot of people out. They can also require some technical knowledge to get things configured properly and whatnot. This is were the consoles come in. They fill that void, for people looking to spend less, have something truly plug and play, as well as provide what I call the ‘community factor’ of gaming (playing games in a group such as sports games, one thing PC’s lack).

Like I said earlier, I’ve been out of the console arena for quite some time. I’ve preached my anti ‘consoleness’ to my friends and told them, “You’re wasting you money on those consoles man, the PC is where the real gaming is at. It’s going to take something extraordinary to get me into a console.” Well that day has come……..The Wii is it.

I played this thing at a friends last weekend and it’s just (for a lack of a better word) ‘fun’! This controller is not just a gimmick (as I’ve read some places), it’s the real deal. It’s so responsive to your every movement, it’s unbelievable. I’ve told friends “I felt like I was using something from the future. Like some dude in a silver jumpsuit will walk through the door any minute, look at me in disgust, grab the Wii, and take off.”. I can see so many possibilities for this down the road…and I know Nintendo has too.

Hats off to Nintendo for taking the direction the have. They’ve had some doozies in the past (Power glove, virtual boy), but this time, they have a true winner, in every aspect. I really think Nintendo understands what gaming is all about…as they should. They are solely responsibly for reviving the concept of home video gaming in the early 80’s. I whole heartedly agree, The Xbox and PS3 wup Nintendos ass when it comes to graphics, but graphics are not what the Wii is centered around. It’s centered around fun.

I’ve read people mocking Wii saying “If you’re a 10 year old or a school teacher, you’re going to love it!” Although I don’t agree with it entirely, it does have some truth to it. But know this, It’s not R movies that pull in the big money at the box office…It’s PG, PG-13″. Why? Because they have the broadest of audiences. Am I saying Wii is a PG system, not by any means, but I am saying it has a much more broader appeal. Even though I’d like them to be :), not everyone is a hard core gamer. Case and point, my father-in-law was playing Wii Sports bowling with us and he was having a blast! This is coming from a guy who can barely work a standard TV remote control.

Bottom line, If you want high end graphics, get a PC Ok, if you want high end graphics and want a console, get a PS3. If you want a system that’s just plain fun, give the Wii a shot. I know some people are going to call me a Nintendo fanboy, but I’m really not. I just play what’s fun. I’m a “funboy”

yes lol the PC beats all 3 of these consols unfortionally.Well i was watching a vid of ps3 and it has a computer harddrive of that of a labtop which you can store up to 200GB.Another thing ppl mostly buy a ps3 is blueray.currently it is the cheapest blue ray and they shouldint put it in, in the first place cause the price is so high because of it.I did see that the SIXAXIS controller in use in the vid.The person was using it to turn the vehicle but it wasint that inavirating as the Wiis controller which atcracked alot of people.bottom line there both good.I also have a question.i play starwars battle front 2 on my pc, does it convert it into HD since my computer has HD picture?Thank you for anyone who helps.

OK.I have the blue ray figured out now.If you can recall ps2 and xbox have most of there geames on DVD format, well ps3 has there games on blue ray.Now what blue ray is:its like a DVD but more capacity which means you get, for example, bigger worlds, better graphics from an HDTV,bigger everything bsically.so thats the deal with blue ray but i think sony went kinda to far with it but i think its still cool.Also the hard drive on the ps3 is like a labtops and i hear most people say thats a cool part since they can transfer there hard drive onto the ps3.I dont remeber saying this but sony said that they dont have rumble cause it might interfeere with the motion sensors.Well i think they could do better.i mean the Wii has motion sensors more elaborate then the ps3 and has rumble but the ps3 motion sensors are still good although not as good as the wiis.so far there both good consols.

For starters, the Wii outsold the PS3…400,000 copies and pending. This is a sign, and as a gamer I must say the PS3 doesn’t come remotely close to being worth its actual price since most of the multi-media features on it are common household electronics sitting comfortabley in our livingrooms. I must say though, Nintendo smacked the competition hard in the face with their 200million dollar contribution to ads and national boards (pertaining to the Wii stations located in just about every electronics store in America.) Personally, Nintendo is doing very well, Sony could do better, and Xbox has no right being in the competition because they had a headstart.

looks like the wii sold over 1million copies but not more than the 360.I went to a website called nexgenwars.com and the 360 is owning the ps3 and wii.I was kinda surprised.Usually the 360 are becoming less popular cause of the ps3 and wii.Im kinda being disapointed of the wii alittle by what i know.PS3 has 8 prosesors the wii only 2 and the ps3 has blue ray and alot of other junk cramed in.Maybe im to spectical.I still like the wii tho

i’ve played both of the consoles. even though they are both AWESOME, i think ps3 is better. i also agree that it is expensive for $600. but lets face it, you get a ps3, ps2, ps1, internet browser, picture viewer, cd player, dvd player, blu-ray player, instant messenger, and wireless internet ALL IN ONE!!!!!! the only thing that i dont like about the ps3 is that my router SOMETIMES gets messed up during online play, but the online play is great

Seems Sony is in a no-win situation with trying to shove the blue ray technology down everybody’s throat. They tried to do the same thin with Betamax, and we all know how that turned out! Beta tape were far superior but because of propriatary pride Sony lost a bundle on that gamble. Now they are trying to do the same thing with PS3. Too bad. The PS3 is a great console with lots going for it. But eventually the consumer, who is more in tuned to the final sale price, will decide the war of consoles and by the same token the HD DVD war as well. Should Sony lose this battle to WII then you will also see blue ray falter. This will be a devastating blow to Sony, but more importantly, hopefully it will smarten up Sony into being more creative with their products instead of a bunch of protection-pro assholes with their dicks up their buyer’s ass.

With all due respect, would you stop calling yourself There both good consoles? There isn’t even the proper there, it is supposed to be they’re. Oh, as for my comment, I think the PS3 rocks. However, the Wii is pretty good, but the Xbox 360 is the worst console ever to hit the market. It shouldn’t even be considered next-gen, because the Wii new and awesome with its new controller, and the PS3 kills it technology wise. The quality of the blu-ray player will impact its price; high quality A-D converters, transport quality, etc., most likely, makes the dedicated blu-ray players more expensive but superior in playback quality. The amount of space on blu-ray is its only advantage for PS3 that I see from a gaming standpoint.

honestly the ps3 is a much better system than the wii the wii is just a big dissapointmment no hd it uses stupid wii points the motin sensing is kinda lame ir does almost everything that the ps3 does but not as good.now the ps3 has a better mp3 capability it can play cds dvds and blu-rays the games look amazing it has 1080p resolution it hes a better flash reader so it can read mem sticks from the wayyyy underapreciated psp so there oh and to top it off it has 6 usb ports AND it has 60gb memory while the wii is still using dvds (not hd dvds)

Here is the difrense between a Xbox 360 and a ps3.(disregarding wii-no HD avaliability)I doubt there are any xbox 360 fans on this forum but a 360 uses HD DVD wich is $500.That only goes up to about 1080i.The ps3 has blu-ray and again is $1000.It is hard to compare 1080p with 1080i but 1080p is slightly better.But HD DVD and blu-ray is easy to compare of what i saw at Best Buy.The graphics on blu-ray is alot better than a HD DVD.With HD DVD u can only store up to 20gb-not very much,but with blu-ray you can store up to 60gb which can hol more information and better graphics,and more cell prosesors working with it.So i honstly would say that if I went to a any ps3 vs wii website with out opinions, the ps3 is better but thats up to people who wana have fun with motion sensors or just like 1080p graphics or 8 cell prosesing power.

First things first - “there both good consoles”, you can’t spell worth a crap, you type in incomplete thoughts, and you think you know this stuff better than the manufacturers (Microsoft, Sony, Nintendo, or IBM). The “Cell” is the name of a specific processor family made by IBM; it’s based on PowerPC architecture (it’s a single general purpose core derived from the 970 processor with 8 SPE’s, 6 which are used for in-game processing and the 7th for encryption purposes while in gaming mode). The 360 has a 3 general-purpose core PPC970-derived processor; this design is not “Cell” as you keep erroneously stating. The processor in the Wii is a single-core PPC750-based design, taking elements from CXe, FX, GX, and Gecko. Also, you’re wrong about HD-DVD capacity - a triple-layer HD-DVD can hold 45 GB of data, and the more typical double-layer disc holds 30 GB. Blu-Ray holds 27 GB on a single layer and 54 GB on a double layer disc. And contrary to past reports, HD-DVD now supports 1080p.

(BTW, two more things. 1) Most ce magazines that rated the two formats when they came out found the initial HD-DVD players to be slower but better, and 2) I did my own seat of the pants review of both formats - HD DVD on a Toshiba 1080p plasma and Blu-Ray on a Pioneer 1080p plasma, and, if anything, HD-DVD’s color was a little better. Otherwise, the other people watching with me and I saw no difference in video quality.)

So far, nothing has impressed me on PS3 - all the games are just prettier rehashes of previous games. As an additional side note with PS3, it WILL NOT up-convert PS1 and PS2 games to HD; e.i. they will look like crap. There’s more titles on 360, but very few titles really stick out. Wii, on the other hand, comes with a pack-in game that’s on the same caliber of the pack-in games that came with the original NES (Super Mario Bros. and Duck Hunt), SNES (Super Mario World), and the original Game Boy (Tetris), and the release games I played (Zelda, ExciteTruck, and Madden) are some of the best games I’ve ever played on any system.

This only leads to the question of when Guitar Hero is coming out for all 3…my PS2 (which still holds it’s own) is dying and GH/GH2 is probably the best game, period, in the last 5 years, because it’s so fun.

Correction to my previous post - The add-on wireless adapter for the XBox 360 is A/G, not just G, and I left out that the XBox 360 and PS3 both have Gig-E network ports, and the Wii has an available 10/100 USB network adapter.

The WII has an edge because for the first time in gaming history it has some excercise involved in it. I don’t know if they are actually going to make games that require you to actually move but at least its a step up from moving your fingers back and forth. Parents with children probably approve as well.

Instead of bitching about the price of the product and all the other stuff that drags with the products, if your a true fan, why not buy ALL consoles? If your a gaming FAN buy all the consoles. Get the best of all worlds. You’ll soon find that defending the shitty consoles is no longer the way to go. You’ve spent wasted money on 3 consoles and never EVER defend another one again. Use money to upgrade your computer or waste it on Vista or something. No more feuding guys. Let it go!

The ps3 is curently the most powerfull gaming system out there(not very fun to play with for most ppl).The cell processor runs over 10x faster than an ordinary computer.Even faster than the computer im typing on and its a 2006 modle.I may get this rong but processors go by GHz.My comp ranges from a 1.2-2GHz.Thats ok and fast for an computer but the PS3s cell processor goes over 10GHz which is EXTREMLY fast and i was amazed to see that power.I dont know much about processors and GHz but when i saw it ran on a 10 it goes very fast.Acording to that it caculates over 2 trillion processes in less than a millia second.(check at best buy website).With bluray.The harddrive can be internal and should be external up to around 750Gb of memory and is HDD wich is a harddrive used in labtops if i can recall.The PS3s cell processor was develpoded at IBM which is a good company with processors im guessing.The PS3s blue tooth(dont get mixed up with bluray)is like any ordinary blue tooth technoligy such as the headset to talk in for multiplayer and other junk.*HDD drives can go way over 750GB but the 750GB is very expensive an i can emagine a external HDD harddrive over $500 and more.>=(

o gimme a break man after about 100 megapixels it all looks the same graphics wise unless u play rly close to the screen or sumthin. also, the sound isnt all that much better. i own both consoles and i can definitely say that while the ps3 is awesome and does have noticably better graphics, the wii is a much better value. blu ray will die out in about a yr cuz ppl will be too loyal to dvds and wont buy it. i personally dont care all that much about the graphics, theyre more like an add-on to gameplay. madden is much better on the wii in my opinion. while games like resistance save ps3 from being totally awful, the wii has a better madden, legend of zelda twilight princess (which i consider one of the best games of all time), and theyre comin out w/ tons of other stuff. also, final fantasy XIII is for the wii, so ps3 doesnt even have that goin for them.

bottom line: ps3 has some good games and great graphics, but not good enough to warrant $400 more than the wii. if they were the same price. even if they were the same price, i still think the wii would win cuz of the games. LONG LIVE MADDEN!!!

I think SONYS 10+GHz IBM processor went alittle to far with it.(Not a bad thing).I am building my own computer and i have to buy a precessor of 2.8GHz for $105 bucks.Not bad.Now IBMs processor for the ps3 is 10=GHz.Intel makes 10GHz and it is extemly fast.Acording to math it can caculate 20million caculations the time it takes a bulet to reach 1 foot.Since the ps3 processro is over 10 it goes faster.PS3 are actually faster than most computer u will ever see.Now a Intel quad processor is over about $800.

The last game console I owned was Intellivision. That’s right: INTELLIVISION. I had two of them. One burnt out, so I picked up my grandmother’s. It burnt out, so it had to go. (Still have the games though.) I would never in a million years think of buying a PS3 or XBOX. We just bought a Wii. LOVE IT.

The Wii Sports and the Wii Play really give you an idea of what this controller can do. Nintendo has hit the nail on the head and opened up an entirely new market for themselves. People like us who haven’t gamed in years are going for it. Just what they needed.

sony won the competition (last year), but things are changing now. the ps2 had the most games because it sold the most. third party companies give most titles to the best selling consoles, and very yfew of the ps2 games were sony made.
there have already been a number of third party titles for the wii, and hopefully this will continue.
since sony hasn’t sent very many shipments and the wii has, the wii will obviously sell more, and that means more third party games. the innovation of the wiimote helps too.

Does it really matter if Nintendo borrowed ideas from microsoft? if microsoft is the smart company you would think they would have looked the motion sensor over and used it on there x-box or 360. i think nintnedo also did more with the wii-mote than microsoft did with the side winder. my opinion but id say nintendo has this in the bag.

GEARS OF WAR is the funnest game I’ve ever play. I like it a lot. I play with people online and its fun. I hate playing with little kids though. They are annoying. Talk too damn much. But yeah, I think I might go buy a Nintendo Wii soon. PS3 seems alright but they do not have good games right now. But I definitely want to buy a PS3 by the end of this year. I like to play games a lot. It keeps me sane I guess. Life is hard and sometimes you just have to relax. Don’t get me wrong guys, I’m not a loser. I just like playing games. Wow..if you’re still reading this, I’m amazed. Thanks for reading!
