I’m a big fan of Firefox.  At first my infatuation was all about the tabbed browsing and increased security, but at this point the biggest draw for me is the extensions. Internet Explorer users don’t really get the whole extension thing, so I figured I’d list out some of the more useful ones I have installed to show what the fuss is about.

Bugmenot. This allows you to bypass registration procedures on a variety of news sites simply by right clicking and logging in using a community database of user names and passwords maintained by Bugmenot.

Session Saver. This extension saves your Firefox windows exactly as they were when you closed them. It even saves the text you were typing in.

MeasureIt. Allows you to launch a ruler within Firefox that you can use to measure the pixel width of any page element.

IE Tab. Opens sites in a tab within Firefox running Internet Explorer. Useful for the occasional IE-only site or to test site’s you are working on in Explorer.

Video Downloader. Allows you to easily download videos from sites like Youtube and Google Videos with a simple click. A recent addition.

Xinha Here. Allows you to launch a WYSIWYG HTML editor any time you are confronted with a text entry area on a web form.

Performancing. This extension is a full fledged blog editor that sits right inside your Firefox browser. If you see a story you are interested in, you simply click on the blog this option and post directly to your own blog. Also allows for viewing of Performancing stats for your blog, assuming you are using their free stats service.

del.icio.us. Integrates your del.icio.us social bookmarking account into your Firefox, allowing you to quickly save and tag the web pages you are reading.

Adblock. This extension allows you to write click on any image on a page and block it, so you never see it again.

Wizz RSS News Reader. A RSS feed reader that runs right in Firefox.
